Patriotism - The Other Face of Patriotism

People make a nation.  People are precious.  Without people, we cannot have a nation, without people, the word patriotism fades into nonexistence.  Barren lands are lands uninhabited by people, vast, wailing, empty and lonely lands.  What would we do without humanity, without people!

Patriots are the passionate noble souls who do not hurt, kill or destroy.  They could be anyone, from a farmer, a teacher, a writer, a solider, etc.  We cannot decide who is a patriot as we cannot judge a book by its cover.  Some patriots fight wars for their nations and that is the only time they may need to kill to defend the people of the country, in times of war.

Patriots are the people that build, heal, guide, repair, restore, mend and build foundations, add value and worth to everything around them.  They are not petty, cribbing, hounding nor do they rise up as militants in mass hysterical bullying of the citizens of the country.

On the other face of patriotism, we have an ideology of militant nationalism bordering on to rising fascism. We have people who follow a pathway of mob hysteria and emotionalism branded in their terms as patriotism attacking anyone who does not fall in line in the way they want as anti-national or traitors.  It is a very serious offense to call a citizen of a country a traitor at the drop of a hat.  Our citizens are law-abiding who contribute to the country, we cannot attack and abuse every stranger because we did not like their actions.  We do not know anything about anyone to decide their loyalty to the country because they may be doing far greater things for the nation than the pseudo patriots.

The people living by the sword of pseudo patriotism should do something great for the nation instead of attacking other citizens of the country.

Our country is not a person, people make the country, people make a nation.  If people have no value, then we have no right to talk about national loyalty and patriotism.  Attacking citizens of the country because you are offended by something they do is a militant type of nationalism, which over time can lead to fascism in ideology and eventuality.  The pseudo patriots bring division, destruction, and polarity in a country, which never help a country to develop.

In the name of pseudo patriotism, people have become violent and intolerant and judgmental.  This is not true patriotism and will never lead to any road of victory.  The end of that road is darkness, blame, hatred, evil and death.

The truth is while we honor our country, we need to value one another more and not hit out and attack our fellow citizens calling them traitors or anti-national and anti-patriotic at the slightest provocation without any proof or substance.  The truth is we are on Earth for a season and a reason.  Life is short and precious.  There are many wonderful things to build, make, explore and discover.  We have eternity, a place that we will go someday forever. This Earth is not our home.  We make boundaries and fight for causes, but in the end of it, nothing really mattered.  All that really matters is our eternal destination because life on Earth is temporary.  In order to really understand deeper truths in life, we need to look at life through the spectrum of the eternal and then our perspectives will fall in line and our causes for which we fiercely fight about vanish into mist in the light of eternity.  In the end, all that remains in that eternity is Love and being in God's presence among His wonders and people.

The crux of the matter is, at the end of life, we will be thinking of where we are going to go, not anything else!!!
