A good man, he was, in fact like a saint
Yet he was torn by his sin, he was deep in pain
Yet he was torn by his sin, he was deep in pain
He found he could never be perfect
No matter how hard he tried
He carried a burden of constant self blame
No matter how hard he tried
He carried a burden of constant self blame
Missing the mark carried a heavy price
Sin loomed around his world of people with vice
He walked up the stairs of penitence suffering along
Carrying the burden of sin on his back for very long
As he walked and walked, a pain did hit
Yet he walked on saying “For this
I am fit.”
Then suddenly within he heard
a soft Voice
Saying, “Son, I have paid the
price
For your sin, I died, I took your
pain
You are free and for this I on Earth came
Grace pours out, only believe, have
faith!
The man did believe and his heart
was aglow
The load on his back seemed to instantly go
Light, free, delighted he shared the great news
Light, free, delighted he shared the great news
This man changed the world
With this message of heavenly hues
With this message of heavenly hues
People were taught about God's grace, no longer confused
Lives revolutionized because of this truth
And his name? Martin Luther!
And his name? Martin Luther!
