Happy New Year 2016 - Poem

As we turn around the corner to meet the New Year
It is with deep peace, calm, confidence, joy and cheer
For You have gone before us on this New Year's pathway
In Your presence, You shield and bless each single day
 Covering with Your wings
Shielding us from harm
Opening new avenues
To bring joy, peace and calm

A New Road To Walk On - Poem

Let the chains of a painful past forever sever
The pain and sting of yesterday is ashes forever
Never put new wine in old skins again
The effect will ruin the present; to cause more pain
Those ashes - throw them to the winds
To scatter in the wilderness never to haunt again…
Today, the Lord is doing something wonderful and new!
Walk on the new road under Jesus' refreshing dew!

Night to Light -

In my darkest night I started to sing
Great deep wonderful peace did it bring
I started to rise on Heavenly wings

As I rose, light started to pierce that black night
Light shone healing, golden aglow, bright
And my darkness turned to light!

The Christmas Tree And Beyond

Christmas has come and gone!  A sparkling season with lights, faces aglow, wonderful presents and happy family times together for many, many people.  Amidst the flurry and rush of activity, the buying of presents, sending greetings, and Santa Clauses ho ho'ing all over, trees glow prettily in different countries.

One evening after Christmas, I came across an article which strongly rebuked Christmas trees stating that the Bible commands us not to cut down a tree and decorate it.  The reference goes to Jeremiah 10.  The strong statements of the article shocked me and I wondered, "Are we being blatantly disobedient by doing what we do?  We would be stubbornly rebellious if the Bible forbids  us not to cut down a tree and decorate it and we kept on doing it over the centuries.  On reading Jeremiah 10,  however, I got a whole different picture of what the Bible is really saying and how many of us are interpreting it.

On quoting Jeremiah 10:2-5
“Do not learn the ways of the nations
or be terrified by signs in the heavens,
though the nations are terrified by them.
For the practices of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
    so it will not totter.
Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
    their idols cannot speak;
they must be carried
    because they cannot walk.
Do not fear them;
    they can do no harm
nor can they do any good.”

When we look at this, it is very clearly talking about cutting a tree and carving it and making it into an idol, covered with silver and gold with the sole aim of worship.  Obviously, no one is carving a Christmas tree for worship.

The origin of the Christmas tree has a myriad of stories.  Some say Christian missionaries started the tradition as they were reaching out to a tribe who worshiped trees, and this made it easier for them.  We do know that in early times, people regarded the evergreen tree as a symbol of strength, health, and goodness and reminded them of the spring days to come as they lived in freezing icy lands.

Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century.  As the story goes, Martin Luther, the 16th-century Protestant reformer, first added lighted candles to an evergreen tree. One winter evening as he was walking home, in his mind composing a sermon, he suddenly glanced up and was struck by the beauty of the glittering stars amidst the tall evergreen trees, so he eventually put a tree in his drawing room for his family, lighting the branches with lighted candles.  Since then, the Christmas tree tradition stuck on.

When millions of people all over the world are lighting up Christmas trees and decorating them, we are clear that no one is worshiping those trees but just having a blessed time together, the tree is not really the focus, just adds beauty to the season!

If we have personal convictions about Christmas trees, it is our personal choice as we cannot find a direct command against a Christmas tree, so we should never enforce our personal opinions on others.  The best verse in that regard is Romans 14:4-5, "Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind."

Again, there are those who do not celebrate Christmas at all saying, "We do not really know when Jesus was born!" True, but Christ came into the world one night, whichever night through a human birth and when He did, there was rejoicing and celebration, singing, in the Heavens and on Earth, and even gifts were given by the Wise Men. If humans do not celebrate, we have a tendency to forget, so at least in celebrating, it revives our faith to stir us up.

Christmas is really a wonderful opportunity to share of the Savior to the world, so if we get dogged determined to stick in miry clay lodged with stones of doctrines, we will just keep fighting about doctrines among ourselves and never rise to reach the world with the Life of Christ within us.  We will never see beyond and we will keep fighting, arguing, posting websites against each other, trying to "expose" other Christians instead of letting God do what He has to, and living our lives in the Power of His Presence and Love.

Now the New Year is around the corner, with a myriad of gloomy prophesies, (which we do not scorn, but accept in humility) we can trust our Lord that in His presence, great things happen.  If we seek His presence, the destiny of nations can change.  Let us rise this New Year to enable Christ's Holy Spirit live within to accomplish greater things in the New Year and see even world change as every believer seeks His Presence.  In His presence, miracles happen!

Salvation - Guest Post

Dr. Annamma Abraham and (late) Dr. Abraham were veteran doctors in Malaysia (originally from Kerela, India) and also serving the Lord in many capacities.  Those early years were very busy with their working schedule and taking care of their very energetic and lively three sons.  In that very busy schedule of work along with parenthood, they grew stronger in their faith and walk with God.  Today, as Dr. Annamma Abraham delves into the Word in deep study, she shares jewels of wisdom from the Word!

 Salvation
Dr. Annamma Abraham
Salvation means deliverance
Descriptive of:
Messianic Salvation  - Deliverance from sin by the Messiah
Jesus Christ.
Matthew 1: 21 -And she will bear a son and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.
National Deliverance
Exodus 14: 13 - But Moses said to the people "Do not fear! Stand and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever."
salvation from enemies
2 Chronicles 20 : 17 -You need not fight in this battle ; station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf  O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out to face them , for the Lord is with you.
Messianic salvation
Messianic salvation is saving the soul, deliverance from sin and its consequences brought about by the merits of Christ's death .
Messianic salvation is an invitation to repentance and faith, to come to enjoy the unconditional love of the Father with celebration with music and dancing.
If you have placed your trust in the Lord Jesus , stop worrying about your salvation. God has done His part . Believe what the Bible says and claim as your very own, the new life that has been given to you through faith in Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5 : 17 -Therefore if any man is in Christ , he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold ,new things have come.
God sent His only begotten son to be the propitiation for our sins . The atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross , redeemed us from our sins, justified us as righteous, reconciled us to God, and thus we are His adopted children, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God, and fellow heirs with Christ.
Romans 8 : 15-17  15 . For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again , but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, " Abba! Father! "
16-The spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17-and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.
            Propitiation ( atonement )
Propitiation-Dying for the sins of man
1 John 4: 10 - In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 Peter 1: 18-19.  18 You were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
19- but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
Leviticus 17: 11   For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I  have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement .
Propitiation-Satisfying God's justice
Romans 3: 24 -26
24 - being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
25 - whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed.
26 - for the demonstration, I say, of his righteousness at the present time, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Propitiation-Reconciling God and man ( Message of reconciliation) 2 Corinthians 5 : 18-19
18 - Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation
19 - namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed  to us the word of reconciliation.
Propitiation- Offering believing sinner perfect and righteous.
2 Corinthians 5: 20- 21.
20 - Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us ; we beg you on behalf of Christ , be reconciled to God .
21- He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
God's purpose is to give us abundant life and eternal life with Him.
John 10: 10 . God's purpose for sending His son is that we might have life, and might have it abundantly.
John 3: 16 . The other reason for sending His only begotten son is that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal Life.
Our problem is apart from God, people are sinners . God gave us will and freedom of choice
Romans 3:23 . All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Isaiah 53 : 6 . All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way ; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him
When we sin, we earn eternal death, separation of the sinful person from the most holy God.
Romans 6:23  The wages of the sin is death , but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The consequence of our sin bring about judgment of God after our physical death.
Hebrews 9:27 .And in as much as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement.
God's remedy for our problem is while we were yet sinners Christ died for us and paid the penalty for our sins .
Romans 5:8 .But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died, for us .
1 Peter 3:18 . Christ also died for sins once for all, the just  for the unjust, so that He may bring us to God, having been put to death in flesh and made alive in spirit .
Salvation is not by our efforts to be good.  God won't accept our good deeds as payment for our sins.
Ephesians 2:8-9 .For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves , it is the gift of God; not as a result of works , so that no one may boast.
Titus 3: 5 . He saved us not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy spirit.
Real belief results in a response on our part. Christ has made it possible for us to experience the full life God wants us to have. As the result of our response we must receive Christ.
John 1:12 .But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in His name.
Romans 10 : 9-10 .If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Our response results in , eternal life, no judgment, and pass out of death into life .
Assurance of salvation 1 John 5:13 . These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life .
John 5:24.  Truly, truly, I say to you ,he who hears my word , and believes Him who sent Me , has eternal life, and does not come into judgment , but pass out of death into life.
            The source salvation
Christ alone is the source of salvation.
Acts 4: 12 . And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name among men by which we must be saved .
Cross
1 Corinthians 1:18 . For the word of cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
God's grace
Ephesians 2: 5, 8 . 5  even when we are dead in our transgressions ,made us alive together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved ) 8. For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God .
God's love
Roman's 5: 8 .But God demonstrated His own love toward us , in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us .
Isaiah 53 : 6. All of us like sheep have gone astray, but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.
God's mercy
Titus 3:5 .He saved us not on the basis of the deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.
Salvation of a non believer requires
Conviction, Repentance, Confession, Faith, Regeneration and  Holy scripture.
Conviction - Making one conscious of his or her guilt
Acts 2: 14 . Peter taking his stand with the eleven , raised his voice and declared to them : " Men of Judea, and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words.
Acts 2: 36- 37 . 36  "Let all house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ- this Jesus whom you crucified"
37 . Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart , and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren what shall we do? "
They got convicted of their sin.
Joseph's brothers   Genesis 42: 21- 22 .
21 . They said to one another " We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for  we saw the anguish of his soul , when he pleaded with us , and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us.
22 .  And Reuben answered them, saying ," Did I not tell you  , Do not sin against the boy ; and you would not listen ?  Now comes the reckoning for his blood. "
Joseph's brothers became convicted of the ill treatment they did to their brother Joseph.
Repentance  Feel sorrow or regret for what one has done or left undone.
            A heart broken over sin
Acts 8 : 14 - 24 .
Apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God . Peter and John came down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit . Then Peter and John began laying their hands on them and they were receiving the Holy Spirit. Now when Simon saw this , he offered Peter and John, money , saying,  "give this authority to me as well, so that every one on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit. "
But Peter said to him, " May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the git of God with money. You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Verse 22. " Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours and pray the Lord that if possible , the intention your heart may be forgiven you .  23 ."For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity" 24 . But Simon answered and said " Pray to the Lord for me yourselves , so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."
Here Simon is repenting on what sin he has done
Confession  - Confession manifested by repentance
            Acknowledgement of sin.
See what is happening to Simon .He is convicted, repenting ,and confessing of what sin he has done.
Faith  - Whoever believes in the Son of Man has eternal life
John 3: 14-18 .
14 . " And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up .
15 ." that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.
16 ." For God so loved the world , that he gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish , but have eternal life.
17 . "For God did not send the son into the world to judge the world , but that the world should be saved through Him .
18 . "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already , because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God .
Regeneration or born again-- born from above , born into the family of God .If so , simply tell God that you believe and that you want to become His child . His arms are open wide - as wide as on the cross .
John 3 : 3- 8
Jesus answered and said to Nicodemus, a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews.
3 ." Truly, truly I say to you , unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. "
4 . Nicodemus said to Him "How can a man be born again , when he is old ? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born. Can he ?"
5. Jesus answered "Truly, truly , I say to you , unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God .
6 . that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.
7 . Do not marvel that I said to you, you must be born again.
8 ." The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going ; so is everyone who is born of spirit.

And I will bless those who bless you , and the one who curses you I will curse . And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed .
Revealed to the prophets

1 Peter 1: 10-12

15 . and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
Salvation from the wrath of God.

Romans 5: 9  Much more then , having now been justified by His blood , we shall be saved fom the wrath of God through Him .
Salvation from eternal death .

John 3 :16-17 . 16. For  God so loved the world , that He gave his only begotton son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish , but have eternal life .

17 .For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world , but that the world should be saved through Him.
God has chosen us.

2 Thessalonians 2: 13  But we should always give thanks to God for you , brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen You from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
God has appointed  us for obtaining salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5 : 9. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rejoice.

1 Peter 4 : 3 . To the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing ; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation.

Past,  Present , Future aspect of  Salvation.
past  Ephesians 2: 8  For by grace you have been saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God .

Present.  1 Corinthians 1 : 18  For the word of cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Future. Hebrews 9 : 28  So Christ also , having been offered once to bear the sins of many , shall appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin , to those who eagerly await Him.

Take God at His word. Then you will have a know-so salvation. The blood of Christ makes us safe, the word of God makes us sure.

When we are in Christ we are a new creation - reborn - born again by faith in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5 :17 . Therefore if any man is in Christ , he is a new creature; the old things passed away ; behold the new things have come .
The question we need to be asking ourselves is whether people notice that we have been reborn.  Can anyone feel that there is a positive difference about our lives . One of the greatest witness we can have as Christians is to leave a positive impression on others. The people should know that something has changed the churchgoers. When we are reborn - made new in Christ , it should be plain for all to see, that God has changed us from within and placed us in his family . A changed life is the result of a changed heart.

When we sin the Lord isn't interested in just a quick apology . He looks for a different attitude and a change of behavior.   Scripture calls this godly sorrow that leads to repentance .

2 Corinthians 7: 9 - 10 . 9  I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God in order that you might not suffer loss in anything through us.
10 . For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces repentance without regret , leading to salvation , but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Paul saw this sorrow in Corinthian believers , which resulted from their response to an earlier letter of rebuke he had written .

1 Corinthians 5 : 1- 8 ( read )
At first it bothered him that he made them sorrowful .

2 Corinthians 7 : 8  For though I caused sorrow by my letter , I do not regret it; though I did regret it - for I see that , that letter
caused you sorrow , though only for a short while .
But when their sorrow led to a genuine change of heart , the apostle rejoiced . ( Read 2 Corinthians 7 : 9 -11 ) . Sorrow for sin can be good or bad . However , only when it leads to an intention to change , does it bring freedom from guilt and renewed joy of our salvation.
2 Corinthians 7: 11  gives  7 ( seven ) characteristics of true repentance. For behold what earnestness this very thing , this godly sorrow has produced in you . What vindication of yourselves. what indignation , what fear, what longing , what zeal, what avenging of wrong ! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.

The kindest thing that God ever did was to become a

man. What magnificent glory Christ left and what humiliation He

suffered so that he could offer us the riches of salvation .When we

receive His gift we claim an eternal inheritance as adopted children

of God. Who can estimate the preciousness of God's gift of

salvation through his son the Lord Jesus ? All we can do now and

throughout eternity is to fall down in adoration before the Lord,

Praising Him for a salvation so wondrous and so free. Praise is the
language of the heart  set free.

Many years of good works and church attendance can never get us

into heaven. Only faith in Jesus Christ can get us into heaven. Are

you sure, You belong to Him ? If not, You can get sure today.

Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 3: 23 . All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Believe on Jesus as your savior.
John 3: 16 . For God so loved the world , that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Obey God's commandments.
1 John 5: 2  By this we know that we are the children of God, when we love God and observe His  commandments .
Trust His promises .
1 John 5 : 11-12 .  11. And the witness is this , that God has given us eternal life , and this life is in His son.
12 . He who has the son has life ; he who does not have the son of God ,  has no life.
Salvation is not what we achieve but what we

receive. Don't let foolish pride keep us from receiving the greatest

of all gifts ! Acknowledge your sin and helplessness. Believe what

God has said , put your trust in Jesus Christ . He has already made

things free for us . Salvation is free, but it is not yours until you ask
for it .
As we remember our Lords death on the cross , our

hearts are filled with love and gratitude . The empty cross and the

empty tomb provide a full salvation . Because Jesus died on the

cross and rose from the grave, God removed our transgressions " as

far as the east is from the west ". When God saves us , our sins are

forgiven and forgotten for ever.

Psalm 103: 12 .  As far as the east is from the west, so far has He

removed our transgressions from us .
